What A Week!

Boy, what a week! I am so tired! Working everyday at the same school is like having a real job! I have been subbing for a teacher whose daughter was injured playing softball. He has been at the hospital with her all week. They tell me that she is doing better today, so that is good! All of the kids at our school made Get Well cards for her. I really love our school. If there is a need, everyone does their best to fulfill it. There are so many caring people in this community! I'm really gonna miss our 8th graders when they graduate.

Today after school we worked in the yard. We pruned trees, mowed the creek bank, dug out the garden some more. So far I've planted potatoes, peas, carrots, leaf lettuce, spinach and green beans. I still need to plant 2 more rows of green beans, corn, tomatoes, watermelon, pumpkins and gourds. Maybe this year I'll even weed it! I sure wish we had a tiller! Poor Jeff is digging the yard up with a shovel, scraping off the grass, etc. then he breaks it up with a pitch fork, then I go in with the hoe and make rows and do the planting. Hard work! Also, the neighbor kids came over. The boy played army with Brady, the girl helped me prune trees.

Tomorrow we have to take the dog and both cats to the vet in South Carthage. They are having a vaccination clinic, so for $7 each we can have them vaccinated. It should be interesting having all 3 animals in the car at once. The neighbors (parents of the kids who came over today) loaned us two cat carriers, so that will make it easier.
I leave you today with a picture of Brady and the Big Peach. This is located south of Vincennes, Indiana. There is a produce store there that also has lots of cute artsy craftsy junk for sale. This is a very well known landmark, as you can imagine.

Busy Week

Hello! Today I'm subbing for the Special Ed. teacher at Forks River. I sub'ed for him yesterday and will be doing the same all week. I kinda like subbing for a teacher who has different kids from different grades all day, as it doesn't get boring. However, I'm always very tired at the end of the day. Yesterday I took a nap when I got home, and I just warmed up barbeque for supper. LAZY!!
The weather here today really sucks! It's rainy and dreary. I wore a bright green shirt today so I wouldn't feel so dreary! I even wore makeup! Quite a shocker!
Brady has Spring pictures today, so he was a little fussy about his hair. He has decided he likes it to be long, but at the same time he doesn't like it hanging in his eyes. He also get his yearbook today. They give the kids time at the end of the day to sign the yearbooks in the gym. I think that's cool. I remember getting in trouble at school because we had to pass them furtively during class time. This way seems much less hassle.
Everyone have a good day!!

East Tennessee Trip and Getting Brady Home!

WEll, I guess you've noticed I haven't done much on the blog the last few days. I've been busy! On Thursday I went to Jonesborough, TN (The oldest city in TN) with my mom, (pictured far right) my aunt Jayne (pictured far left) who was visiting from Terre Haute, IN, and our cousin Jean (center). We had a very good time! Lots of old homes and buildings to see, you know how I love historic architecture. Also lots of neat shops and museums. Here's a pic of the flag flying at the courthouse. For lunch we stopped at a cute little restaurant. It was called Dogwood, or Magnolia or something like that. I ordered a dish called Theresa's Favorite. It is also my favorite! It was chicken breast served on a slice of banana bread, topped with sliced apples and melted cheddar cheese! It also had yogurt sauce and cranberries on top!! YUM!!

Brady is home now!!! We picked him up Saturday in Kentucky. He is as glad to be home as we are to have him home! He was so happy to see the welcome to Tennessee sign that he wanted us to stop and take a picture of him by it. Unfortunately I didn't have my good camera so I took this with my phone.

Spring Break? HA!!!!!

Here's a picture of Jeff and Biscuit. When he sits in his chair she like to jump up on his lap and cuddle her head down under his chin. She's soooo cute. He took this picture himself with his phone.
They supposedly call this spring break, but so far all I've done is work! However, tomorrow I'm going shopping with my Mom, cousin Jeannie, and my aunt Jayne. Should be fun! Then on Saturday I get my boy back!!! Yay!!!
If you know of anyone who needs help paying for their prescriptions, let me know. I'm sure I can help them with the Ameriplan prescription benefits.
Well, gotta go, lots of work to be done!
Love to all!

Happy Belated St. Patricks Day!

Here's a pic of my friend, Jenny Ford and her dog Fannie Mae. She is Brady's Art teacher and she is really just a good friend, and a good person. By the way guys........ She's also single! (she's going to kill me now!)
To close out the St. Patrick's Day weekend, I leave you with an old Irish Blessing... May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, and until we meet again, may the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand.

I'm so proud of my boy!

Here's Brady with his prize-winning photo and his blue ribbon! He's not smiling much as the sun is in his eyes, but he was very proud of himself!

Brady is off in Indiana right now visiting his dad. I sure do miss him! He'll be back on Saturday.

My cousin, Mike Rogers of Hymera, IN passed away over the weekend. He was only 45 years old. He has been very sick for a really long time. It's sad to see him go, but at least he is in a better place and is no longer suffering.

I have a whole week in front of me with no kid, and no classes! I'm gonna try to get this house spring cleaned, and set out the rest of my garden. I would like to at least get the garden spot tilled. We planted our potatoes last weekend. I'm gonna plant tomatoes, sweet corn, green beans, peas carrots, leaf lettuce and spinach. YUM!!

I hope everyone had a happy St. Patricks Day! I celebrated by going over to my friend Jenny's house. We cooked corned beef, potatoes and broccolli. For dessert we had fresh fruit. Then, we dug through an old box of stuff she found in the walls of her attic. There were a lot of old letters written to her great grandfather, some pictures, an old will, etc. There was even a book of Masonic by-laws for the Snow Creek Masonic Lodge. It was really old, like from the 1870's. That was cool. The town we live in used to be called Snow Creek back in the day. I can't believe it was ever big enough to have it's own lodge. There were even bills of sale, and receipts from stores here. About the only thing you can purchase here these days is postage.

I'm soooooo tired!

I hate daylight savings time! It's ok in the fall when you turn the clocks back and gain an hour, but in the spring when you lose an hour?! That sucks! The above pic is my good friend John Waggoner Jr. of South Carthage, TN. He and his wife Retta and I went and hunted up a cemetery just up the hill from me in the town of Chestnut Mound. I drive by the thing at least 3 to 4 times a week and I didn't even know it was there. It is all grown over with weeds and kudzu. (Note: if you are not from the South, kudzu is this horrible viney weed that is trying to take over the earth. ) I was goofing off with a machete, just chopping at things, kinda like I was the bad guy in a horror movie, and accidently found a big headstone, almost as tall as me. (Yes, the Waggoners are brave people to trust me with a machete!) There was a woman on her front porch right across the road who didn't even know there was a cemetery there, and there are about 15 or more graves there! That's how bad the kudzu is.
Well, I haven't taken the picture of Brady with his ribbon yet. I'm gonna try to get it tomorrow.
I've been pretty busy with work this week. Yesterday I subbed for Kindergarten, today for pre-k, tomorrow 8th grade, and Friday back in kindergarten, all at Brady's school! I like working there as I always know what he's up to, (as you can imagine, that fact just thrills Brady!) and I can sleep in 30 minutes as it is only 1/2 mile away!
Don't forget to save your empty ink cartridges and give them to me when you see me! Brady's school can recycle them for $$$$ for the school!

Two-headed mom & Affordable Medical Coverage???

Ok, the pic of the day is some crazy picture of my mom with two heads. For questions as to what in the hell this is, please contact her!!! I just thought it was funny!
I started my own business today selling affordable medical coverage. It's not insurance, but even better! It's a discount plan. It offers up to 80% off of dental, prescription, vision and chiropractic care. It even covers orthodontics (braces) and cosmetic surgeries and bleachings. My website is www.mybenefitsplus.com/mrose. Check it out, join the plan, make me some money!!! It really is affordable. Even I can afford it and I'm broke! There is also a medical discount plan that covers Drs., hospitals, etc. but I haven't figured out that website yet. I'm not gonna quit subbing, I like it too much. Unfortunately, flipping burgers at McDonalds pays better than substitute teaching.
It's a beautiful day here in Middle Tennessee! It's about 70 degrees and sunny. I'm sitting in the sunroom (yes Christy, that means your bedroom!) with the door open!
Everyone have a Lovely day!!!!

New Picture of Kaden

Here is a new pic of my Great-nephew, kaden. Isn't he cute?????
I'm not working anywhere today, so I'm goofing off, and doing a little housework (emphasis on the word "little"!) This Friday I'm going to be teaching 2nd grade at New Middleton. Other than that I have nothing else scheduled this week. That doesn't mean the phone won't ring at 6 a.m. with a call from some frazzled principal with their fingers crossed, hoping they can find a sub!
I would love to work tomorrow, but I have plans to go cemetery hunting on Thursday. John and Retta Waggoner have had a request from someone to find a grave up on top of Chestnut Mound. The cemetery is overgrown and in bad shape so this one calls for Jeff's work jeans and my hiking boots.
Chestnut Mound is a little town just past our house. It is one of the highest elevations in the county. There's not much there, a post office, small country store, a church and a handful of houses.
The Forks River School PTO is kicking off a new fundraiser this week. We are recycling old cell phones and printer inkjets. We collect them, then redeem them for supplies, technology, sports equipment and cash. If you have some of that stuff and you want to donate it, you can call me and I'll come get it, or if you're out of town you can mail it to me at my home address. The PTO is going to discuss having a party for the class that brings in the most.
Well, have a good day ya'll!

I can add pics again!

Yay! I can add pics again. They aren't quite in the spot I wanted them, but whatever. The top one is of Brady hanging off the train like a hobo. We are at the Depot Museum in Cookeville. The one that's kinda floating around somewhere (the flowers) is one that Brady took for the contest. Nothing new has happened since this morning, I'm just glad to have my picture adding abilities back!

Monday, YUCK!

Hello. Today I'm at New Middleton School teaching 1st grade. I really don't like 1st grade, I prefer the older kids. I feel like I'm too mean for the little ones. I'm sure some of them deserve it. I just don't have the patience. But these aren't too bad.
Had a good weekend. I was installed to hold my first officer position in the Order of the Eastern Star. That was fun. I don't think I'm allowed to tell you much about it, as it is a top-secret organization. If I told you about it, I'd have to kill you. Brady was a very good boy, he helped out a lot with the housework over the weekend. For that matter, so did Jeff!
Brady's photograpy contest is THIS Friday, not last Friday. The project was due last Friday, and the judging will be held this week. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for good luck! I'll let you know how he does.
By the way, if you want to leave a comment and don't know how to do it, just click on the word "comments" on the bottom of the post you wish to comment on. This will take you to the appropriate place. I have been having trouble working on the blog from home. It won't let me add pics, and it didn't even publish what I wrote. I'm doing this at school (kids are at Art) and it looks like it's gonna work from here. I hope it does! I hope it starts working from home too!

Boring 5th Graders

Today I'm having a very boring day. I have never seen such well behaved 5th graders. I'm subbing at Union Heights school, where Brady used to go. I know 5th graders aren't usually this good. They must be from another planet. I hope Brady does well in his photography contest today. I will add more later as my kids will be back from art any minute.
