Happy Memorial Day!!!

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on our Military Men & Women who have served us so well, so I'm gonna list the Military people from my family, who I'm so proud of:

My dad, David Foster, Army

Father-In-Law, Daniel Rose, Army

Brother-In-Law, Daniel Rose, Army

Uncle Mike Larimer, Marines, Viet Nam

Uncle Larry Larimer, Air Force

Grandfather, John Larimer, Navy WWI

Uncle Harold Cowger, Marines Korean War (KIA)

Great Grandfather, John H. Larimer, Union Army Civil War (KIA)

Grt Grt Grandfather, James W. Kelly Union Army Civil War

Grt Grt Grandfather, Edward Macy Harvey, Union Army Civil War

Grt Grt Grt Grandfather, John M. Canada Union Army, Civil War

Grt Grt Grandfather, John W. Davenport, Confederate Army, Civil War

Grt Grt Grandfather, Milton Shivers Cowger, Union Army Civil War

Grt Grt Grt Grt Grandfather, Joseph Stebbins, Revolutionary War

There are more from the Rev. War, but I don't have the info at my fingertips. The (KIA) means that that soldier was killed in action.

Anyway, I'm proud of what my ancestors have done for their country, and proud of all of our military people.

Now having said that, I feel I must say that the current war seems to be a disaster, and I wish someone would fix it. I don't claim to be a military expert, so I can't say how that could be done, or even give an opinion on it, but I do absolutely support our troops.

Ok, we have had another good weekend. Although we really really need some rain. It's been like 3 or 4 weeks since it rained and that's a long time for Tennessee. I've never seen it so dry here.

On Friday we went to the drive in at Watertown to see Pirates of the Caribbean III! It was soooooo good!! I think it was the best of the 3! I can't wait until #4. The way it ended, it is obvious that there will be a #4, and it will probably be just as good! Now I'm just waiting for Harry Potter to come out!!! YAY!!

On Saturday, we went to Granville to the Heritage Festival. We took Brady's friend Justin and we all had a pretty good time. There was a car show, museums, antiques, yard sales, LOTS of good food, music, etc. It's not quite the covered bridge festival, but about as good as it gets right around here.

Didn't do a whole lot yesterday, babysat for the neighbor kids, but that's not like really working. They are Brady's friends so he went with me and we played outside with sidewalk chalk, then we played the longest game of UNO ever in the world (I won of course!) Then we played Monopoly. It was fun!

I don't yet know what's on the agenda for today. Probably work in the garden, do some housework, fix the leaky water heater. Sounds fun! You should come help!!HA!!

Everyone have a great week, and a happy Memorial Day!

Nice Weekend!

Hello!! I don't know why, but when I put pics on here from my cell phone, they just kinda seem to be place at any random spot, and it won't let me move them! Stupid free thing!!

We had a nice weekend! My father-in-law came down to visit from Indiana and we went out to eat at our fav steak restaurant, and then we went for a ride to the lake, where we took all those lake pictures you see above. The weather was just perfect!!

Before his dad got here, Jeff went and bought me another tree like the one they got me for mother's day! so now I have one on each side of my front steps. The pic above of a bush thingy with a pretty red flower is what I'm talkin about. We are still not sure what it is. The flower looks like Rose of Sharon, but Jeff says the leaves are different. Whatever, it's pretty! Anway, he also dug up my flower beds for me, and we got some Hosta's to plant in them, that Jeff's dad bought for me! How nice is he?!
My garden is still doing well, there is a pic of my potato plants blooming above, and a pic that I took last week of the whole garden, the corn and tomatoes are both taller than that now, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like.
School is out now. :( I'm sad because I love my job, sad because it means some of the 8th graders that I like will be moving on to high school, and they will forget all about "Cool Mrs. Rose", and I'm sad that Brady will soon be gone for the summer. I'm happy because I don't have to get up early, I'm rid of certain 8th graders that I never want to see again, and I can get a lot done this summer. I will miss Brady though.
I still haven't found a job for the summer, but there is a teacher who is also a nurse who looks for nursing jobs in the summer, who needs a babysitter for her 4 year old boy. She said she will definetly call me if she gets a job, so cross your fingers and say a prayer that she gets a job!!
Ya'll have a good week!

Well, I made this cyber pic of me at www.meez.com. My friend Jerri did one on her myspace and I thought it was cool. I can't believe they had a pic of a cemetery.... How "me" is that???

School is almost out and I'm looking forward to it, except for a few things. I'll miss gettin a paycheck, I'll miss some of the 8th graders, and it means that Brady will be leaving soon to spend 7 weeks with his dad. I always miss him so much when he's gone.

My dad is moving into an apartment in June and I will be going up to Indiana to help him get moved. So that will keep me busy, then I'm planning on having a big yard sale, and I've got quite a lot to do around here.

The garden is doing well, finally!! I had to replant a lot of it, due to the late season frost, but now my green beans and watermelons are coming up! I have also planted 4 different kinds of tomatoes, and 8 rows of corn. The frost really did a number on our other plants too. the pear trees and the honeysuckle have brown spots all over them, and I think I have lost some of my rose of Sharon trees. I also lost at least one rose bush, maybe 2. Sucks!!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers!!! Jeff & Brady bought me a really pretty tree or shrub of some kind. They didn't know what it was, but it sure is pretty!! We planted it today, and we also planted 2 rosebud trees. Brady also made me a really pretty basket out of clay in Art class. It has a rose on it. I love it!!! Jeff made bacon sandwiches for breakfast too! YUMMY!!

Well, got to go, my friend Christy is calling me!!

Here's a weird picture!!

This is one of my kids from Forks River School. We had the annual Spring Fling last friday and my friend Jenny did face painting. This particular 8th grader decided she wanted to have weird eyes on her eyelids like Johnny Depp in the 2nd Pirates of the Carribean Movie. She looked really creepy! When she doesn't have 2 sets of eyes, she's a very pretty girl.

Anyway, I haven't posted anything for awhile as everytime I try to sign on, the signon page loads everything but the place where you actually sign in. Stupid free thing!!

Not much is new here really. School is out in about 2 1/2 weeks, and I'm lookin for a summer job. Wish me luck.....

That's about it really. Geez, I'm lame!!

I am sooooo tired!

Hello! Once again, I've had a very tiring week. It has been the week where Tennessee schools have their state standardized testing. I have been subbing each morning for the kindergarten teacher at Brady's school so that she could assist with the testing, and volunteering to help the other teachers in the afternoon. They don't get their usual breaks during this time as there are no art, music, p.e. etc classes. So, by the time the tests are over, they are in dire need of a break!

Last weekend Brady and mom went to NC to the Great Smoky Mountain Rail Road. They had a good time. Mom sent me some pics and they are what's posted above.

I have also started a myspace sight, to check that out go to http://www.myspace.com/bradysmom1997

See ya!

Busy Easter Weekend!

Hello all! I haven't updated in a while (for me anyway) so this will probably be a long one. I have lots of pics too! We went to Indiana for the Easter weekend. I am currently being plagued by allergies, so the whole time I was there I had no voice! I had to whisper. I'm sure everyone was happy that for once in my life, I was quiet!

We didn't spend much time with friends, it was an all family weekend. On Friday I did go to the mall with my neice. While there I ran into 2 people I hadn't seen in years!

The first was my cousin Nicole. I was so happy to see her! We used to be very close, then she moved to North Carolina where her husband was stationed and we kinda lost touch. She showed me a picture of her son, and I can't believe how much he looks like both of his parents! Of course, he has the Foster red hair. He's a cutey!

The 2nd person I ran into was my friend AJ. He was a DJ (yeah, AJ the DJ) at a club I used to go to back in my younger days, aka the dark ages. He told me that he had just went to Tennessee for vacation. Come to find out, he stayed at the exact same cabin that Jeff & Ilike to stay at in Townsend, near the smokies. Weird! We got to see Kaden, and he is growing so fast! He's such a pretty baby! Here are some pics from our weekend!

Here is a pic of Kaden on Easter Sunday, what a cute little Easter Bunny!

Have a great rest of the week!

Still Tired

I probably won't put much on this post as I'm tired. I've still been subbing for the same teacher all this week. Luckily Friday is a holiday! Today after school, Brady and I went to Petco in Cookeville and bought some dog clippers. I couldn't get an appointment for biscuit with the groomer as I waited too long to call, so I decided we would do it ourselves. The groomer charges around $50 for her annual spring trimming and flea bath, and the clippers cost $40, so I think it was a good decision. Biscuit looks a little funny, some of her fur is longer in some places than in others, but it's ok. I'm going to give her a bath when I'm done with this. I think we will do a better job on her next time. I'll take a picture of her and post it later.

I've been slightly sick this week as well. Sore throat, coughing, sneezing etc. I think it's just allergies. I can hardly speak, I sound like a mouse. Some of the middle school kids were laughing at me today, and imitating me. BRATS!!!! No, actually I love them all. Even the ones who really ARE brats!!

We are going to Indiana tomorrow for the Easter holidays. I'm only working 1/2 day and we are leaving as soon as Jeff gets home and cleaned up from work.

I'm gonna look for a picture to post, who knows what it will be........

Ok, it's my Great Uncle, Harold Cowger. The 5th grade at Brady's school is studying the Korean War, and he fought in that war. He was killed in action in December, 1950 and his body has never been recovered. I have his dress uniform jacket and hat (or as the Marines call a hat, his "cover") so I took them to school and talked a little about him, the War and how it affected my family. They seemed interested, but maybe they remembered that Mrs. Rose is mean so they better pretend to care! :)

Happy Easter Ya'll!!

What A Week!

Boy, what a week! I am so tired! Working everyday at the same school is like having a real job! I have been subbing for a teacher whose daughter was injured playing softball. He has been at the hospital with her all week. They tell me that she is doing better today, so that is good! All of the kids at our school made Get Well cards for her. I really love our school. If there is a need, everyone does their best to fulfill it. There are so many caring people in this community! I'm really gonna miss our 8th graders when they graduate.

Today after school we worked in the yard. We pruned trees, mowed the creek bank, dug out the garden some more. So far I've planted potatoes, peas, carrots, leaf lettuce, spinach and green beans. I still need to plant 2 more rows of green beans, corn, tomatoes, watermelon, pumpkins and gourds. Maybe this year I'll even weed it! I sure wish we had a tiller! Poor Jeff is digging the yard up with a shovel, scraping off the grass, etc. then he breaks it up with a pitch fork, then I go in with the hoe and make rows and do the planting. Hard work! Also, the neighbor kids came over. The boy played army with Brady, the girl helped me prune trees.

Tomorrow we have to take the dog and both cats to the vet in South Carthage. They are having a vaccination clinic, so for $7 each we can have them vaccinated. It should be interesting having all 3 animals in the car at once. The neighbors (parents of the kids who came over today) loaned us two cat carriers, so that will make it easier.
I leave you today with a picture of Brady and the Big Peach. This is located south of Vincennes, Indiana. There is a produce store there that also has lots of cute artsy craftsy junk for sale. This is a very well known landmark, as you can imagine.

Busy Week

Hello! Today I'm subbing for the Special Ed. teacher at Forks River. I sub'ed for him yesterday and will be doing the same all week. I kinda like subbing for a teacher who has different kids from different grades all day, as it doesn't get boring. However, I'm always very tired at the end of the day. Yesterday I took a nap when I got home, and I just warmed up barbeque for supper. LAZY!!
The weather here today really sucks! It's rainy and dreary. I wore a bright green shirt today so I wouldn't feel so dreary! I even wore makeup! Quite a shocker!
Brady has Spring pictures today, so he was a little fussy about his hair. He has decided he likes it to be long, but at the same time he doesn't like it hanging in his eyes. He also get his yearbook today. They give the kids time at the end of the day to sign the yearbooks in the gym. I think that's cool. I remember getting in trouble at school because we had to pass them furtively during class time. This way seems much less hassle.
Everyone have a good day!!

East Tennessee Trip and Getting Brady Home!

WEll, I guess you've noticed I haven't done much on the blog the last few days. I've been busy! On Thursday I went to Jonesborough, TN (The oldest city in TN) with my mom, (pictured far right) my aunt Jayne (pictured far left) who was visiting from Terre Haute, IN, and our cousin Jean (center). We had a very good time! Lots of old homes and buildings to see, you know how I love historic architecture. Also lots of neat shops and museums. Here's a pic of the flag flying at the courthouse. For lunch we stopped at a cute little restaurant. It was called Dogwood, or Magnolia or something like that. I ordered a dish called Theresa's Favorite. It is also my favorite! It was chicken breast served on a slice of banana bread, topped with sliced apples and melted cheddar cheese! It also had yogurt sauce and cranberries on top!! YUM!!

Brady is home now!!! We picked him up Saturday in Kentucky. He is as glad to be home as we are to have him home! He was so happy to see the welcome to Tennessee sign that he wanted us to stop and take a picture of him by it. Unfortunately I didn't have my good camera so I took this with my phone.

Spring Break? HA!!!!!

Here's a picture of Jeff and Biscuit. When he sits in his chair she like to jump up on his lap and cuddle her head down under his chin. She's soooo cute. He took this picture himself with his phone.
They supposedly call this spring break, but so far all I've done is work! However, tomorrow I'm going shopping with my Mom, cousin Jeannie, and my aunt Jayne. Should be fun! Then on Saturday I get my boy back!!! Yay!!!
If you know of anyone who needs help paying for their prescriptions, let me know. I'm sure I can help them with the Ameriplan prescription benefits.
Well, gotta go, lots of work to be done!
Love to all!

Happy Belated St. Patricks Day!

Here's a pic of my friend, Jenny Ford and her dog Fannie Mae. She is Brady's Art teacher and she is really just a good friend, and a good person. By the way guys........ She's also single! (she's going to kill me now!)
To close out the St. Patrick's Day weekend, I leave you with an old Irish Blessing... May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, and until we meet again, may the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand.

I'm so proud of my boy!

Here's Brady with his prize-winning photo and his blue ribbon! He's not smiling much as the sun is in his eyes, but he was very proud of himself!

Brady is off in Indiana right now visiting his dad. I sure do miss him! He'll be back on Saturday.

My cousin, Mike Rogers of Hymera, IN passed away over the weekend. He was only 45 years old. He has been very sick for a really long time. It's sad to see him go, but at least he is in a better place and is no longer suffering.

I have a whole week in front of me with no kid, and no classes! I'm gonna try to get this house spring cleaned, and set out the rest of my garden. I would like to at least get the garden spot tilled. We planted our potatoes last weekend. I'm gonna plant tomatoes, sweet corn, green beans, peas carrots, leaf lettuce and spinach. YUM!!

I hope everyone had a happy St. Patricks Day! I celebrated by going over to my friend Jenny's house. We cooked corned beef, potatoes and broccolli. For dessert we had fresh fruit. Then, we dug through an old box of stuff she found in the walls of her attic. There were a lot of old letters written to her great grandfather, some pictures, an old will, etc. There was even a book of Masonic by-laws for the Snow Creek Masonic Lodge. It was really old, like from the 1870's. That was cool. The town we live in used to be called Snow Creek back in the day. I can't believe it was ever big enough to have it's own lodge. There were even bills of sale, and receipts from stores here. About the only thing you can purchase here these days is postage.

I'm soooooo tired!

I hate daylight savings time! It's ok in the fall when you turn the clocks back and gain an hour, but in the spring when you lose an hour?! That sucks! The above pic is my good friend John Waggoner Jr. of South Carthage, TN. He and his wife Retta and I went and hunted up a cemetery just up the hill from me in the town of Chestnut Mound. I drive by the thing at least 3 to 4 times a week and I didn't even know it was there. It is all grown over with weeds and kudzu. (Note: if you are not from the South, kudzu is this horrible viney weed that is trying to take over the earth. ) I was goofing off with a machete, just chopping at things, kinda like I was the bad guy in a horror movie, and accidently found a big headstone, almost as tall as me. (Yes, the Waggoners are brave people to trust me with a machete!) There was a woman on her front porch right across the road who didn't even know there was a cemetery there, and there are about 15 or more graves there! That's how bad the kudzu is.
Well, I haven't taken the picture of Brady with his ribbon yet. I'm gonna try to get it tomorrow.
I've been pretty busy with work this week. Yesterday I subbed for Kindergarten, today for pre-k, tomorrow 8th grade, and Friday back in kindergarten, all at Brady's school! I like working there as I always know what he's up to, (as you can imagine, that fact just thrills Brady!) and I can sleep in 30 minutes as it is only 1/2 mile away!
Don't forget to save your empty ink cartridges and give them to me when you see me! Brady's school can recycle them for $$$$ for the school!

Brady Won the Contest!!!!!

Brady won his photography contest!!!! He came in first place with a blue ribbon!!! I'm sooooo proud of him! I'll take a picture of him and the ribbon and the picture tomorrow and post it!

Two-headed mom & Affordable Medical Coverage???

Ok, the pic of the day is some crazy picture of my mom with two heads. For questions as to what in the hell this is, please contact her!!! I just thought it was funny!
I started my own business today selling affordable medical coverage. It's not insurance, but even better! It's a discount plan. It offers up to 80% off of dental, prescription, vision and chiropractic care. It even covers orthodontics (braces) and cosmetic surgeries and bleachings. My website is www.mybenefitsplus.com/mrose. Check it out, join the plan, make me some money!!! It really is affordable. Even I can afford it and I'm broke! There is also a medical discount plan that covers Drs., hospitals, etc. but I haven't figured out that website yet. I'm not gonna quit subbing, I like it too much. Unfortunately, flipping burgers at McDonalds pays better than substitute teaching.
It's a beautiful day here in Middle Tennessee! It's about 70 degrees and sunny. I'm sitting in the sunroom (yes Christy, that means your bedroom!) with the door open!
Everyone have a Lovely day!!!!

New Picture of Kaden

Here is a new pic of my Great-nephew, kaden. Isn't he cute?????
I'm not working anywhere today, so I'm goofing off, and doing a little housework (emphasis on the word "little"!) This Friday I'm going to be teaching 2nd grade at New Middleton. Other than that I have nothing else scheduled this week. That doesn't mean the phone won't ring at 6 a.m. with a call from some frazzled principal with their fingers crossed, hoping they can find a sub!
I would love to work tomorrow, but I have plans to go cemetery hunting on Thursday. John and Retta Waggoner have had a request from someone to find a grave up on top of Chestnut Mound. The cemetery is overgrown and in bad shape so this one calls for Jeff's work jeans and my hiking boots.
Chestnut Mound is a little town just past our house. It is one of the highest elevations in the county. There's not much there, a post office, small country store, a church and a handful of houses.
The Forks River School PTO is kicking off a new fundraiser this week. We are recycling old cell phones and printer inkjets. We collect them, then redeem them for supplies, technology, sports equipment and cash. If you have some of that stuff and you want to donate it, you can call me and I'll come get it, or if you're out of town you can mail it to me at my home address. The PTO is going to discuss having a party for the class that brings in the most.
Well, have a good day ya'll!

I can add pics again!

Yay! I can add pics again. They aren't quite in the spot I wanted them, but whatever. The top one is of Brady hanging off the train like a hobo. We are at the Depot Museum in Cookeville. The one that's kinda floating around somewhere (the flowers) is one that Brady took for the contest. Nothing new has happened since this morning, I'm just glad to have my picture adding abilities back!

Monday, YUCK!

Hello. Today I'm at New Middleton School teaching 1st grade. I really don't like 1st grade, I prefer the older kids. I feel like I'm too mean for the little ones. I'm sure some of them deserve it. I just don't have the patience. But these aren't too bad.
Had a good weekend. I was installed to hold my first officer position in the Order of the Eastern Star. That was fun. I don't think I'm allowed to tell you much about it, as it is a top-secret organization. If I told you about it, I'd have to kill you. Brady was a very good boy, he helped out a lot with the housework over the weekend. For that matter, so did Jeff!
Brady's photograpy contest is THIS Friday, not last Friday. The project was due last Friday, and the judging will be held this week. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for good luck! I'll let you know how he does.
By the way, if you want to leave a comment and don't know how to do it, just click on the word "comments" on the bottom of the post you wish to comment on. This will take you to the appropriate place. I have been having trouble working on the blog from home. It won't let me add pics, and it didn't even publish what I wrote. I'm doing this at school (kids are at Art) and it looks like it's gonna work from here. I hope it does! I hope it starts working from home too!

Boring 5th Graders

Today I'm having a very boring day. I have never seen such well behaved 5th graders. I'm subbing at Union Heights school, where Brady used to go. I know 5th graders aren't usually this good. They must be from another planet. I hope Brady does well in his photography contest today. I will add more later as my kids will be back from art any minute.

Brady Took These Pictures!!!!

Yep, that's right, Brady took these! I think he did a great job! They are having a photography contest through 4-h at school. I think he's gonna win! I let him use my good camera, but everything else is all him!
The top pic is of my and cookie, the next one is a holler that's between our house and Cookeville. I've always thought that would make a good pic! I was right!

This is a barn between our house and Cookeville

This is a train that is at the Railroad depot museum in Cookeville.

This is the American Flag, of course.

Nothing much is up

Like it says, nothing much is up. I'm subbing at Forks River School today as the P.E. teacher. This is her planning period, and as a sub I have nothing to plan for so I'm in the computer lab. I kinda like working for the P.E teacher because I can wear sweat pants and a t-shirt and play dodge ball all day. Dodge ball has changed a lot since I was a kid. The balls are a little smaller and MUCH softer, so it doesn't hurt when some mean boy hits you as hard as he can in the face.( Are you reading this Carter Hall and Joey Simmons???!!!) I actually enjoy it and play it often with the older kids. They even let me play! Brady is much better today, but his reading teacher tells me he seems to be very tired. He told her he was exhausted. Well, that's about it. I'll put some kind of picture on here when I get home.

Sick Kid

Well, I thought I was gonna get some much needed work done around this house today. That is, until the phone rang at 8:25 am. Brady was sick, puked in class, yuck! So I went to get him and have been hanging out with him all day. He's been a little better, has been sleeping alot. I think he's also enjoying the extra TV time! Hopefully he'll be better tomorrow. Well, that's about it for today. I guess I should look through my pictures and see if I have anything visually interesting for you....... Ok, here's a pic of the Bellsouth building in Nashville. It's also called the Batman Building. I think it's pretty cool. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day so it's not the best pic in the world.

Some Pictures

Here are some pictures I got from my cell phone. The first one is Brady and our cat Punky, the next one is our little kitty Cookie, and the last one is the snowman that Brady built last week with the neighbor kids. We have no snow right now, it's about 55 degrees right now. Major improvement over what we experienced in Indiana last weekend! Not much exciting going on today. I did nothing all day. Too damn tired! Well, I guess I did go pay the phone bill, and went to Subway to get supper. See, I'm too lazy to cook today. Boring day.

We Saw the BABY!!!

We just got back from a VERY quick trip to Indiana. We got to my grandma's about 1 a.m. Saturday and left at 8:30 a.m on Sunday. However, we did get to spend all day Sat. with the baby, Kaden Harris Bennett. He is so cute, and so tiny. I just love him!!!! The picture here is one I took with my phone, so it's not the best quality. I finally figured out how to upload pics from the phone, and how to email them, and send them in text mssgs, so prepare to start receiving weird pictures from me. You know how I get. We also stopped by Jeff's friend Pat's house and saw his new place as well as his new family. His wife is very nice, BIG improvement over the previous one!!!! She has a boy that is one year older than Brady and they seemed to get along well. We were only able to stay about an hour as we had to get back to grandma's and get to sleep for the drive home the next day, but it was nice to see some old and new friends. I wish we had had time to see everyone, but that never happens. We did get to see a sweet baby though, and I fell in love with him!!! Isn't he a cutie? Look at him!!! How could you not love such a sweet little thing?

Puddin Pie 4-21-2006 to 2-23-2007

Our cat Puddin' was killed today. He sneaked out of the house when Jeff was going to work early this morning, and got in the road. He was run over by a car. Brady doesn't know yet, but he's going to be very upset as that was his favorite kitty.
I'm teaching 6th grade today at New Middleton and it's a little hard to keep my mind on things because I'm upset.
